Today’s children and families often have limited opportunities to connect with the outdoors.
That statement alone is the reason why our family created OGL Adventures, LLC.
Today’s kids spend too much time indoors, plugged into video games, TV, cell phones and computers and not enough time outside.
Our goal is to bring children back to nature. We connect kids to fun, rewarding activities, including hiking, water sports, adventure and team building exercises to build confidence, inspire a love of the outdoors and give children the opportunity to be outdoors without parents worrying about their well-being.
Many programs keep kids cooped up in a classroom environment which can be stressful for a young person. We provide SUPERVISED time outside mixing structured and unstructured outdoor experiences.
The result is better focus and passion for learning new things.
As parents of growing children in an age of technology and fears of the outdoors, we, the founders of OGL Adventures realized the missing link is someone willing to organize, coordinate, plan, fundraise, lead and connect youth to the outdoors.
Beliefs: We believe that every person should have the opportunity to explore and enjoy outdoor activities, regardless of means. Because of this, we do not charge any of our participants to attend and why donor and sponsor support is so very important.
Organize: We partner with local businesses who are passionate about outdoor activities, sports and agriculture and connect them with the community’s youth with zero out of pocket expense from the adventure participant.
Coordinate: We coordinate with schools, youth organizations, charter companies and adventure venues in an effort to bring children to the outdoors.
Fundraising: We seek out funding from corporate and individual sponsors to fund the activities for the participants. Anyone can sponsor a child or a group of children to participate in outdoor activities.
Plan: With our partner venues and vendors, we develop an annual calendar of events for our participants to attend.
Lead: We will be there for every activity, as supervision, as mentors, as guides and resources for information and outdoors education.
Connect: We will work with schools, after school programs, churches and venues to hold registration and fundraising drives to sign-up interested participants and make accommodations, whether their needs are financial or any other hardship. We have a limited number of spaces available, based on funding. Opportunities for this experiential grant will be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to: Interest level, financial need, extenuating circumstances, academic achievement, volunteerism, diversity, disability, and personal statements.
